Supportive Psychotherapy Training: Seminars & Supervision Offered by  Robert E Feinstein MD | CEU/CME-Eligible
This course is available to psychiatric nurse practitioners, counselors, and psychiatrists who want to enhance their psychotherapy skills for treating patients with any diagnoses.
10 hours of seminars are designed to assist participants in assessing and treating a diverse set of patients with any diagnosis. Core topics include patient assessment, treatment structure & boundaries, levels of personality organization, development and use of an ecological systems map, resistance, transference and countertransference, case formulation, and evidence-based strategies and interventions for creating change. By the end of the series, participants are equipped to confidently apply supportive psychotherapy interventions—such as validation, reframing, problem-solving, behavioral activation, and crisis stabilization, use of community resources—to promote durable therapeutic change.
10 hours of small-group supervision follow a structured case-review and/or review of recorded therapy excerpts. Each clinician presents at least two patient cases and receives repeated, individualized, performance-based feedback. With supervision, clinicians will strengthen the working alliance, manage emotional distress, set appropriate treatment boundaries, and  manage non-adherence. Participants will also be able to develop and utilize a bio-psycho-social-cultural case formulations, help patients improve coping abilities, stabilize emotional functioning, enhance self-esteem,. They will also learn how to utilize wheel & spoke problem-based interventions, monitor patient outcomes, all designed to help patents. manage the practical challenges of their emotional and daily life.

Treatment of Severe Personality Disorders Offered by  Robert E Feinstein MD This course is available to psychiatric nurse practitioners, counselors, and psychiatrists who want to enhance their psychotherapy skills for treating patients with any diagnoses.

This advanced program provides 10 Hours of  structured seminars and 10 hours of small group supervision available psychiatric nurse practitioners, counselors and  psychiatrists treating patients with severe personality disorders
10 hours of seminars are designed to assist participants in assessing and treating severe personality disorders. Using an eclectic, psychodynamic framework, participants learn to evaluate levels of personality organization, refine diagnostic clarity, manage crises and suicidality, and implement evidence-based interventions drawn from Transference-Focused Psychotherapy, Mentalization-Based Treatment, DBT, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, and Good Psychiatric Management.
10 hours of small-group supervision follow a structured case-review and/or review of recorded therapy excerpts. Each clinician presents at least two patient cases and receives repeated, individualized, performance-based feedback. The  format emphasizes diagnostic formulation, personality organization, risk assessment, crisis management, treatment frame and the application of evidence-informed psychotherapy interventions.
Across the course, clinicians strengthen their ability to maintain a strong working alliance, deal with negative transferences, manage patient induced countertransference, the patients  emotional storms and   resistance to treatment. Participants will be able to develop theoretically integrated case formulations and apply eclectic evidence-based interventions for patients living with complex interpersonal situations.
